Open House

One Sunday each September, we open our doors for the public to meet teachers, tour our building, and learn about our classes.

For several years, we have been pleased to include a reading by the Carpenter Poets at these events.

The Carpenter Poets meet periodically to share poems related to their trade: wood, carpentry, construction, and the breaks in between. We love to host these poets, who understand the carpentry of a well-turned phrase and the poetry of wood. Where better to hear them read than in the Eliot School wood shop, surrounded by chisels and saws?

    Our Eliot

     Four walls
     two windows
     a roof, a door
     a foundation of honor,
     silently elevating this floor.

     teachers handing off
     small pieces of the torch
     the clock
     steps back
     when skills are shared

     these are the real builders
all the great buildings know that
