Basic Furniture Design

With pencil and paper and simple models, create an exceptional design for your next project. Work from concept to full technical drawings. Leave with a cut list, ready to build your project in the wood shop. Bring an idea to help jump-start the process, plus drawing supplies you are comfortable using.

This class is a perfect bridge from Basic Woodworking to Woodworking Open Shop, or an excellent addition to your intermediate woodworking skills. (You may also take it before Basic Woodworking, if you wish.) All levels welcome.

Note: If you plan to build your project in our Woodworking Open Shop class, please keep it to a manageable size. Our limited class and storage spaces cannot support large projects such as beds, dining tables or shelving units. We usually meet this challenge by asking students to make smaller elements in Open Shop class, then use private lessons to assemble larger parts and the final piece outside of regular class time. Private lessons cost $65/hour. We require instructor's permission for large projects in advance. Please inquire for details.
