Dyeing Yarn Naturally



Dye your own yarn with eco-friendly supplies from the grocery store, including common foods and even Kool-Aid. It’s fun, beautiful and easy to repeat at home. You’ll supply your own yarn.

Materials
Dress to get messy, and bring with you to class:
- Gloves (durable gloves such as yellow gloves that you would use to clean with)
- 5–quart size tupperware
- Large cooking pot (This should be one that you will not use again for cooking. I would suggest using an old pot.)
- Pillow case
- Apron
- Large kitchen knife
- One large wooden spoon and one large metal spoon
- Yarn: Up to 1 ½ lbs. yarn or fiber (must be un-dyed natural wool yarn, not already dyed or synthetic). The yarn can be wool, silk, mohair, alpaca or anything else that is animal protein fiber.
