Tribute to Charlie Sandler
80th Birthday & Retirement Party
Saturday, Sept 15, 2012
Live music by Bo Winiker Band
Charlie Sandler retired in May 2012, after 46 years as Teacher and Superintendent at the Eliot School. On September 8, he turned 80. Charlie infused the school with his belief in the old-fashioned values of hands-on learning, friendship and generosity, helping it grow as a center for creativity and craftsmanship for all. He set the school’s warm and welcoming tone. We celebrated and honored this wonderful man as we named our wood shop after him.
Please shop at these generous local businesses that support local culture and helped make this event a grand success: Arborview Realty • Blanchards Liquors • Bukhara Restaurant • City Feed & Supply • Fiore's Bakery • Fresh Hair Salon • Galway House • Harvest Co-op Market • Midway Café • New Leaf Flores • Purple Cactus • Red Sun Press
Go to our Facebook page to see photos of the celebration.
Donate in Charlie's name to our Building Fund.
In addition to teaching, leading the school, and mentoring many students and teachers, Charlie took responsibility for maintaining our historic building and grounds. He was known for his thrift in stretching a penny and convincing his friends, master craftspeople, to contribute their labor. By giving to the Building Fund in Charlie’s name, you help sustain his legacy.
