Summer Program for Children Underway

Our schoolhouse feels happy, buzzing with active children making sailboats, pillows, pictures and Lego towers. The Summer Program runs one week at a time through the end of July.

Every week is different, so a child taking Woodworking 3 weeks in a row might make sailboats, mini-racing cars, a toolbox, a stepstool, a whirligig, a fairy house or some other things, depending on the teachers' imaginations and plans. There's always a design phase, then measuring, sawing, hammering, sometimes gluing, wood burning, painting and other embellishments, and always room for variation on the theme.

We love it when a child realizes that someone made their house, their table, their chair – and they, too, with practice, can make those things some day.
