Make your own soap from vegetable oils and lye. You will learn the process while making a batch of honey-oatmeal soap. Recipe development is covered. Two additional batches of soap will be made using colors and fragrances. Various marbleizing techniques are demonstrated. Soap made in class must be picked up later.

Kymberlee Keckler soap

Kymberlee Keckler is a chemical engineer whose talents include bookbinding, ceramics, chocolate and soapmaking. She has been making soap since 1985 and teaching soapmaking since 1997. Kymberlee enjoys the art and chemistry aspects of making soap and sharing her knowledge of the craft with others. Her soap is available online and every September at Jamaica Plain Open Studios at the Eliot School.
