Comics Open Studio 1S19
Need help producing that graphic memoir or want to create your first mini-comic from scratch? Bring your comics projects to this open-format class. Refine your storytelling, improve your drawing, gain technical skills, ready your comics for print and get professional feedback. Study masters of the medium and meet local guest artists and writers who will share their stories and talents so you can learn about their process. This class meets at the Eliot School Annex, 253 Amory St., Jamaica Plain. Limit 8 students
Jerel Dye makes drawings, illustrations, books, video and new media performance. His art has appeared in children’s books, comics, animation and exhibitions throughout New England. He is developing his first graphic novel.
Jerel works as Media Arts Manager for Grassroots International and as a freelance illustrator. He earned his BFA at UMass Dartmouth and his MFA at Massachusetts College of Art & Design.

Bring to the first class:
- Sketchbook (any)
- Ink pens
Additional materials will be discussed in class and will include:
- Bristol paper 9" x 12" or larger (smooth or vellum)
- Crowquill dip pen and holder
- Sable brushes #2 round and others.
- Black Ink
- White Ink or Gouache Paint
- Rags and jars
- Scrap paper
